         November 22nd at 11:00 - 12:30

         No classroom session for students

Fallen leaves lying on the grass in the November sun bring more happiness than the daffodils.    -  Cyril Connolly

We have been very busy learning about different cultures and preparing food for our Thanksgiving Feast.

We would like to extend many thanks to Angela Arevalo Naranjo (Paula’s mother) who came in to celebrate the German holiday, “St. Martin Day.” Angela taught our children the value of modesty and altruism by reading the book, “Sankt Martin” in German and English. The students created their own lanterns and marched around the classroom singing German children’s songs.

Our children were also excited to meet our local heroes, the firemen from the Ridgewood Fire Department. We learned about important fire safety procedures including getting low to the ground and below the smoke in the event of a fire. They were very curious about how firemen put on their uniforms and how they use an oxygen mask. All of them enjoyed the opportunity to sit in the fire truck and learn about the tools firemen used in their work. It was like the truck had many magic pockets.

On dental health day, we learned how healthy teeth were important for our practical life to chew, speak and smile. Dividing different types of food into “bad teeth” and “good teeth” categories helped us to think about improving our eating habits. We also learned the correct brushing technique. Thank you Dr. Misato Fukuda and Dr. James Venuti!

We are sad to announce that Ms. Alexis Agnelly will be going back to her hometown in Louisiana. Her last day will be December 22nd. Alexis has been with our school since September 2016 and she has been an incredible part of the Little Crane community. We will miss her vibrant energy and dedication to our students. We wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors! Ms. Kathy Reidda will be her successor starting in January. She will be a familiar face to you and the students since she has been helping us in the past months.

This month’s curriculum included:

- Language: Opposite and Rhyming words, Preposition

- Math: Teen Board

- Art: Leaf Collage

- Music: Frere Jacques

We look forward to seeing all of you at the Thanksgiving Feast!
